I bought a new cell phone that adds time through Net10. 50.00 a month for unlimited calls, text etc.

The card added 50,000 minutes which no one could use in a month which was fine. However, I recieved 5 text "alerts" daily from Jackson Hewitt to let me know that my account balance was 0.00 on my prepaid visa card, costing .50 for each text. I responded to the text saying it costs me money and I do not have and never did have an account with them. Today I finally called the number relating to the text and got a 911 operator.

I told her I was not calling with an emergency and explained to her who I was calling. She stated that they had recieved information yesterday about a scam on the cell phones to get information. I then called Jackson Hewitt and after a 10 minute wait spoke to someone who did not seem overly concerned that thier name was being used in a scam on the cell phone. I then called the corporate number and spoke to another person who told me they would immediately call the "person in charge" and he would call me probably tommorrow.

Tommorrow? The person on the phone ( I am not going to state names) did tell me they had heard about this but I was the first person to actually call regarding this problem. I offered to overnite my new cell phone to them so they can see what is happening and try to stop it. I also stated that I thought Jackson Hewitt had a good reputation and that at this point I would never use them because of the problem with the phone.

The lack of concern or action on the part of the company is disconcerting, especially since they acknowledged there was a problem. Wanting more of a resolution I found this site and was amazed at the amount of allegations of fraud. While I do not think that Jackson Hewitt is getting any returns from Net 10 from the charges I would think they would be concerned about losing customers.

What happened to good customer service?

Monetary Loss: $500.

It's annoying that these thieves are still out there after years of complains and the cell phones companies have no tools and no interest in blocking their text alerts, a real shame!!! I am disappointed!!!

The only solution, if you are s T Mobile costumer is getting a new Phone number. We were never part of Jackson, no costumers whatsoever, my child's phone was constantly empty thank to those thieves. Unfortunately too, T Mobile could not block their site, so we hope that a brand new phone number provided by the company will take care of jacksonhettwittextslerts thieves!

Try replying to those texts with STOP that's usually how you opt out of text alerts from retailers etc
