My wife recently went to the Jackson Hewitt Tax Preparation site at the Wal-Mart at Hutchinson Park Dr. In Jacksonville, Fl.

Her filing should have been very simple. One W-2 from one employer and taking the standard deduction, and married/filing separately with an e-filing. When she asked "up-front" how much the total charge would be, she was told it would either be $48/$68/$88. (In previous years she had only paid app.

$45 to other tax preparers). After waiting for app. three hours and "signing her life away" on numerous forms, she was charged a total of $303!! She was not even given a breakdown of all the charges on her bill.

She should have obviously refused to pay that amount, and had I been present she would not have. These people are very disreputable.

If we had done our homework beforehand and reviewed them on the "consumer affairs" website BEFORE going there we would have found that there were 865 customer complaints about their services....this was a gross error on our part and a harsh lesson learned...Bottom Line...Choose some other service to do your tax return. Jackson-Hewitt is a "rip-off"!

Reason of review: Pricing issue.

Location: Jacksonville, Florida

I was not told by the JH tax preparer this past Monday to apply separately for the refund advance which was, according to their advertisements, up to $750 to be given on the very same day taxes are prepared. Apparently, I was to apply for the advance separately on some website before application expires in 48 hours.

So here I am calling on Wednesday to ask about my refund advance and was told I should have received an email with instructions which I never received. Since the advance application expired, I am left with no advance. Left multiple messages and got no response. I will never go back to Jackson Hewitt.

I was taken. I paid $362.95 for the tax preparation and given very bad customer service.

I need to fix my car and was counting on the advance. Horrible horrible customer service!

Maybe your wife paid it because she doesn't know how to speak for herself. Maybe let her practice and list her own complaint.
