JH IS AWESOME

Sorry that all of you are having problems with Jackson Hewitt but they have been doing my taxes and other friends and family taxes as well and we have not had any problems you just have to do your homework as a matter of fact I was a H&R Block client at one time but the same reason you have with Jackson Hewitt I had with H&R Block so life is not fare, now JH has a new Bank to fund the RAL and its not Jackson Hewitt fault that you dont get the money its the Bank, but I wish you all the best just be a good taxpayer I learn not to blame HRB blame the bank they are the ones we bail out.

They messed up my taxes and now I can't even get ahold of a person for the small amount of 38 dollars that I'm covered with the basic guarantee for the interest. They won't return my calls and when I go in to the office in person, they say only the manager can help me and he is not in (and he nevers calls me). It's a sham, you're a sucker!!

Guest

Yea, I wished I did my homework about JH before I went to do my taxes there. I did it for this year but never again I will have them do my taxes again.

Guest

you are being ripped off and you can't even see it... be a good tax payer and do your homework and find a cheaper place to do your business... you probably pay too much for everything else in your life :grin

Jackson Hewitt

I went to Jackson Hewitt over 2 weeks ago and they messed up my taxes 3 times now I can not check the status of my taxes though them I will never used Jackson Hewitt again I am very pissed off and I am not pleased at all. If I knew that they were going to mess up my taxes like this I would have never went to them. I know next year I will not be returning to Jackson Hewitt. My taxed was rejected 2 and all they could tell me was they were sorry. I understand the apology but look I need my money and it seems like all they do is play with people. And I am not the only one they have done this to I have talked to other customers and they have the same problem or a similar problem to mine.

Taking money from people up front and splitting it after they leave

jackson hewitt on 8th Minnesota, KCK is taking money from mexicans to do there taxes when the fee comes out of the refund. I know someone who was in the business at the time and they said that the tax preparers are charging Mexicans up front so they can make money on the side. They brag after the client leave they he can't speak english so they take advantage of them. The IRS or the corporate office of Jackson Hewitt need to put an stop to this type of practice soon. When people get wind of what is going on Jackson Hewitt will be blown out of the water. This has going for years at this location.

JACKSON HEWITT IN NORTH HOLLYWOOD, RIP OFF

In 2009 I had Jackson Hewitt prepare my income tax in North Hollywood. In December of 2010 I received Cp2000 for additional tax. It turns out Jackson Hewitt made a mistake on the amount they entered on return. I called the preparers and they had indicated if I had any problems they would be there. I have been contacting them since before Christmas of 2010 indicating their office manager would contact me. Nothing has happened, It is now January 12, 2011 no action from them. Beware do not use them, their a rip off and liars. Credability and backing up your word plays a big part in trust

I have had the same experience and they do not call me back or contact me. it has been over a year since they made the mistake and they wont correct.

the person who helped me was Lieghann Holtz.

I think we should all ban together and do something about it. please email me at allaboutda1@***.com and lets chat.

Guest

I'm sorry for your experience!

ANY JH location is no good. You can be denied for the RAL there and STILL you have to file your return. Unlike H&R Block where you can just say, "No thank you.",not pay one thin dime, and go elsewhere.

Guest

their office is located at 6748 Laurel Canyon Blvd north Hollywood, CA 91606 and

the individual who prepared tax is G.

Bernardo Gomez, also was the one who guarenteed help if I had any problems.

Do Not Use them.

Jackson Hewitt Taxes prepared wrong.

2009 tax return was prepared by Jackson Hewitt. I gave them my form fron social security showing my disability income. The preparer neglected to enter it on the 2009 tax return and the IRS has contacted us saying we owe another 894.00. They failed to fill out our tax form properly. They were paid a fee to ensure it was filled out correctly, app. 350.00. When they were contacted, they claimed they never saw the form from social security and did this on a mental recall. They were not willing to check their records which shows they did not enter it on the tax form. They offered no refund for their mistake.

You can go to H&R Block and have Free Second Look, if they find an error they will amend your return for only $99, it is worth your time and you have nothing to loose. Get it done correctly.

Go to their website and look for: Tax Pro Finder and find a Tax Professional with experience in your tax situation.

H&R Block can go back three years and could do present year. Just an FYI.

Jackson Hewitt not offering RALS Again!

Last year the majority of Jackson Hewitt offices did not offer RAL (Income tax loans) because the bank they were using was not able to get certification from the Treasury Dept. Well instead of telling customers the truth they lied and deceived people into believing that loans were available. After completing the unsuspecting client's tax they would make up an excuse or tell the client they were denied when in fact there was no bank offering a loan. Majority were dishonest and the tone started at the top. I would recommend that nobody uses this service again. This year 2011 will not be any different because once again the same bank doesn't yet have certification from the Treasury.

It seems as though JH has a major issue with HR. I have seen very slanderous commercials saying that HR won't have loans why would you want to go to them and when you call a JH office that is the first thing they say to you on the phone "HR doesn't have anything!!!".

Weather this is true or not, which it's not, the Ethics here are very bad. I have never heard HR name JH and put them down. HR is not like that, they have integrity and standards which JH apparently doesn't. HR WILL have a loan product.

HR's previous bank failed on a contract and left HR in a very bad place but HR will rise up and do whatever they can for the clients.

HR has a bank but cannot provide certain types of loans because of conlict of interest, the loans may not be as much because of the IRS changes and general bank changes. This is not the fault of HR...just the times.

Guest

I am a Jackson Hewitt Franchise Manager. The last comment is correct regarding RAL's.

This year Corporate has arranged with Republic Bank for the franchises do have RAL's. The only downfall is that Republic Bank is only allowing one office in each franchise territory to do RAL's.

The maximum you can get is $1500 and the balance of your refund will be an Assisted Refund. H&R Block will not have RAL's this year because of a dispute with their bank.

Guest

hr block did the loans this year so what was the problem wit yall

Guest

We receieved the RAL from Jackson Hewitt. We went it in on a Tuesday evening around 4 and our money was on our card the next day by 9 a.m.

and we had a pretty big refund. So not sure why you are saying they were not offering them and we plan to apply again this year.

Guest

if you under a bankrupty would your taxes be delay

Guest

THAT'S NOT TRUE.. I RECEIVED THE RAL...I RECEIVED MY FUNDS IN 24 HRS

Guest

1. "the majority of Jackson Hewitt offices did not offer RAL" loans - not true. Half the Jackson Hewitt offices did offer loans last year.

2. "not able to get certification from the Treasury" - not true. The Treasury doesn't certify tax companies! Banks make agreements with Tax Companies, and JH only secured lending funds for a portion of its offices.

3. "once again the same bank doesn't yet have certifiation" - not true. Due to changes in the IRS, most tax companies, including JH, will have loans, but the loans this year (for ALL companies) will likely be less than $ 1500 - why? Because the Treasury dept. used to notify the tax companies and banks that the taxpayer did or did not owe Back Taxes, STudent Loans, or other Federal Debt. This year, the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT / IRS will NOT provide this information, so the banks won't loan as much, and will probably do a credit check before lending.

Warning to consumers who used to count on the $ 4000 - **** loans - it is VERY unlikely ANY tax company will have big loans this year, so don't count on them. Blame your government and the IRS for this.

$12000.00 misfiled and they won't fix it.

Jackson Hewitt was our choice for tax service in 2005. We thought they were a reputable company until now. My husband was medically discharged from the military in 04. He received a severence pay for compensation. Upon filing taxes, we were taxed on the whole sum, which was like 33 percent. Little did we know we were supposed to be taxed on a portion, and 12000.00 of it was supposed to be refunded. It was a standard rule, and somehow Jackson Hewitt didn't make this adjustment in our taxes. Now they are telling us, IRS as a statue of limitations of 3 yrs. and we are out of luck. This is what gets us the most, we found out about this through our VA rep., when my husband was filing for VA benefits. The VA worked for H&R Block and asked if he received his credit for that year. I don't understand how a company as big as Jackson Hewitt can totally screw up something like that and not be held responsible...it isn't just a $1000.00 or so, this is a lot of money. And, How does the IRS have a statue of limitations on filing on them for after 3 years and they can audit us at anytime.

Jackson Hewitt associates are only trained a day or so and are not taught about tax law. HR block associates go through over 80 hours of training initially and then are required to take 24 hours every year after to be rehired and then even more to become updated on any new tax changes.

Not ALL large companies are scam artists and although with thousands of employees it's impossible to be 100% sure each individual is perfect the overall company standard is that it's done to completely accurate and they always take responsibility for their mistakes. HR block also looks over and checks other peoples work for FREE so you know if it was done right or not.

Guest

Thanks Alesha, I currently have turned it over to a lawyer and a reputable CPA. Not sure how it is gonna go, but gotta try and see what they come up with.

Jackson Hewitt has not been helpful at all, and certainly does not care that they have done this. I would not recommend anyone using this company.

Guest

I am a tax preparer for Jackson Hewitt. The line item for the lifetime learning credit is on the 1040 in the nonrefundable credits section. Obviously Alisha doesn't know how to read a 1040.

Guest

I dont know much about legal stuff but i would contact an attorney if i were you. There must be something you can do to hold them liable.

Guest

This is true the IRS will only give you a refund owed to you for up to 3 previous years but will audit you for up to 7 years if your the one who owes. I understand what you are going through.

One of the problems with places like Jackson Hewitt is that the actual person preparing the returns are only taught how to enter what the program asks for. I have been preparing individual tax returns for almost 20 years now. Back in the late 90s I was considering rapid refund for financial reasons. Usually i would never consider or recommend this because i believe it to be a big rip off.

Anyway i had already prepared my own return but went to Jackson Hewitt to see what they would charge me so i could possibly get my refund faster. They totally left out the lifetime learning credit i was entitled to which would have given me almost 2000 less on my refund. I pointed out to the woman that i had already prepared my return and that the credit was missing from the return she prepared. We both looked at the program she was using together and the line item didnt even show on the form.

She contacted her associate, a CPA for the company and put me on the phone with him. I explained and he insisted I was wrong.

I just laughed and walked out.I couldnt believe that at that time i was unemployed looking for work and this was what i do and this huge company was screwing all these people who probably didnt even know about the credit. Thats the problem with these big companies, even when u catch a mistake they would do anything to deny it, including screwing millions of people.

DO not work for Jackson Hewitt/Barnes Enterprises Franchise.

I was an employee for this company. I took all three required courses.

I was hired as an office manager from the beginning, was NOT paid for management wages, which was only .25 cents more than regular preparer wages. I was also told that I would be paid more on my next check...which did NOT happen. I was also charged for uniform shirts that I never received, I did get that money back, only after I quit. While still working there I asked for that money back, and did not receive it until I quit and said I was going to the labor board.

I was not paid correctly, my check was missing a total of 22 hours, I did not receive that for another week. Some employees did not receive their paychecks until the following pay day which is bi-weekly. I also never received my over-time pay, which was used as regular pay. This company is notorious for the employees not being paid on time, or sometimes not at all, some even have been payed with checks that bounced.

The customer complaints are unreal. Last years bank they were using refused to do business with them due to NSF. They were telling customers and employers that the bank was going bankrupt. A customer came in one day and said she called the number on her paperwork, which mistakenly was the bank they claimed went bankrupt!

It was clearly a lie. There are numerous employees working there that do tax fraud...Richard Barnes does know of this activity as it was reported to him, and he did nothing. They all still work there, he just moves them to different stores! The register drawer at this particular store was always open, it was broke, and again Richard Barnes was fully aware of this as I told him myself.

He showed a lack of concern. The store manager Tawnya Comer wanted to write people up for missing money...ranging from amounts of $20 to $5...the drawer was always open???!!! Hello! How do we know she didn't take the money???

This Jackson Hewitt franchise is clearly unorganized, and ran by a family that is dishonest. Also this franchise is giving all JH's a bad reputation, and name. I had many customers come in and complain, and that they would never do their taxes with JH, and would tell all family and friends not to either. We were "supposed" to employee contracts...they would NOT tell us our wages until we got the "contract".

This was in January that we were hired, the contract was written up on January 4,2010. We were to turn them in on or before January 15,2010, or it would be considered not valid. I did not receive the contract until the January 23,2010. I did not sign this contract, as to me it was already null and void since I did not receive I was supposed to.

We did not receive any training. I was put to work on January 4,2010. I had no training at all, and worked for 10 hours with no OT paid out to me still to this date. We are to be paid on Saturdays at 7 p.m.

they claim which is normal business hours...they close at 7, most of them close a few minutes earlier than 7 due to management meetings, so in reality most paychecks do not get handed out until Sundays. The pay checks go to area in which you work, not at the store you work! You can work in Cheraw and live in Hartsville, not get your check because you are working until 7. So clearly the pay day is a farce.

There was too much dishonesty in this company with upper management and owners that I felt it necessary to leave my position.

I also feel it is my duty to future employees and future customers to tell what is going on in this Jackson Hewitt franchise.

I am currently working as a Office Manager after I was forced into the position. I only took the position assuming it was going to pay good.

Well apparently my Pay Rate is only $9/hr and they wont even tell me what my commissions are!!!! e yet to train me or my employees and they are VERY UNORGANIZED!!! This 1st pay pd i got my check but a lot of my coworkers are still waiting on theirs and they didnt even drop off checks before 5pm that Fri like they promised. Instead they asked everybody to pick it up at the Main Office!

(more gas and time) I dont get paid enough to go through this!!! It has been a very bad experience thus far me.

I wouldnt Recommend anybody work for them. I am seriuosly considering quitting ths week if there are no changes!!

MR Ronnie Summerford in your dreams. The kind of company Jackson Hewitt is now you would last a day.

Shelton Parker is a fair and honest man...he knows his *** when it comes to taxes and running a tax franchise. I doubt it very seriously if he was hounding you day and night. He doesn't have the time now or then. Dont think he didnt call everyone that use to work for Mr Barney(I mean Barnes).

By the way what are you doing now? You LoserI Working for Richard Barney!!HAha Oh yeah looks like he no longer has the building on 2nd Loop!

I worked for them for two tax seasons, and knew what I was getting myself into, and a job is just a job. I am looking for a way to get my w2 from Customer First for the 2011 tax season, where we worked two months before IRS shut them down.

I would settle for someone to give me the EIN for customer First. Thanks

8) Ms. Ronnie Summerford tiss tiss.

So where are you know in the grand seem of things. Personal attacks are not allowed are they not? Secondly its good to see Geppetto(Richard Barnes) has a new Pinocchio (that would be you Ronnie).

Thirdly by the looks of you rap sheet you are a petty criminal that can't do any better for yourself crack procession less the 28 grams that's personal use so you are not just a puppet but a *** also. The only thing Richard Barnes is good for is standing behind someone with balls not a man who stands on his on 2 feet oh yea I almost forgot Chrissy when your don't sucking him dry of money cause clearly she don't suck him throw me a couple of dollars and JJ said the head ain't that good either

Serena B Krl

I just recently quit there myself... And everything that was written on this is true...

Makes me nervous that I might not get my last paycheck that is owed to me this coming friday... Thanks for the heads up...

Guest

Ok, today is March 21, 2011...Just to let you guy know, Customers First is still open, up and running. Several of the locations closed and the work was transferred to other locations of the company. As with any company, yes, there are some problems and working for the Barnes family is not all gravey, but it is a job, and in this economy, any honest living is a good living.

We are all entitled to our opinions, and we all know our experiences with the company. If you wish to post your comments, that is your right. Just make sure that you do understand that you are responsible for what you say and once it is out there, you cannot take it back. It might come back to haunt you one day.

As for all of the hearsay, I simply think of what my mother used to tell us when we were growing up: Beleive half of what you see and none of what you hear.

Guest

I worked for a different franchise of JH and was given a one week crash course training all on paper. All the instructor did was read from their books and not teach.

I was then thrown into the job with no computer training, covered for the office manager when that individual was late or could not work...called in on days off and had to cancel doctors appointments because I could not get time off. Then after getting sick and missing 2 days work with a doctors note I was not given any hours for three weeks. No matter how many times I tried to communicate with upper management I received no communication in response to my inquiries. Now I have discovered that I am locked out of the system so there is no longer any communication avenue.

I am assuming I have been let go, but I would be nice to have been told such and given a valid reson as to why.

JH franchises do not treat their employees fairly and they also take it upon themselves to readjust your time even if you are honestly working after the offices are closed. I would advise anyone thinking about employment with any JH office to look elsewhere.

Guest

I see that some of you are using this site to vent how you all feel about past experience with company. and some of you are taking it personally.

Let me give you a little advice keep it simple because I see that one of you have said that you have seen court documents and you have been defending them but what you dont realize is that you are hurting them and yourself by revealing some thing like that. That should have never been shared on the internet and they should have never shared that with an employee.

YOu too can also be summoned into court if you are not careful. So I say to one and I say to all keep this what it is a place to vent if you can not take other ppl opinions stay off this page cause everyone has a right.

Why I got to write one huyndred words to fill this page to complain? Why cant I just say what I got to say the way I want to say it? Did anyone else know there's no loans this Christmass? Did anyone get warning so they know they can't get their loans? I wasn't told. How long was they gonna wait to tell us? Where they goning to tell us ever? I really wish people would realize that it's not always a companies fault that you don't get a loan. ALL banks are having issues with regulations changing, the IRS changing and the economy being not so great.

Mainly Shay B. did you ever think that with getting two or three credit cards prior to this that you over extended your credit? Also, because the IRS is no longer telling the banks if you owe money on a federal or state debt that the banks ARE taking a risk loaning money to you, therefore if your credit report doesn't meet the underwritting critera you won't be approved.

Also, HR Block Bank and Tax Service are affiliated but ARE NOT the same thing. Please get your heads out of your butts and do research before spouting off about things you obviously don't understand.

Guest

H&R Block does have tax loans and they are giving more than any other tax business because they own their own bank. The IRS has made changes which affects loan processes.

Emerald advances are loans and no one HAS to give a loan. This year I do know that H&R Block has a higher rate at approvals than anyone.

Our economy is in need. What we need is God more than money.

Guest

H&R Block Bank makes the decision on the loans, not H&R Block Tax Service. The Tax Service has no say so in who gets approved and for how much and the Tax Preparers take all the heat - Clients are given the reason for denial and for some it is credit and others it is simply that they do not have the ability to repay a loan but whatever the reason, it is not the fault of the Tax Preparer and it should not be taken out on them.

I understand that emotions are high as clients are in need but H&R Block is being as transparent as possible and that is more than can be said for competitors.

Guest

HR Block is full of mess. I have been using there service for years and today I wasn't approved for an advance on my taxes.

I don't owe anything, always paid back on time and my credit is decent. I just got approved for a bank Mastercard, a Wal-Mart card and another store credit card. HR Block just lost my business for good. I'll do my taxes myself just like last year.

But this time I won't efile with their over charging, false butts. Why do a credit check for a tax advance, especially on customers who have a good record with them?

Guest

Block will have loans this year, but not as high $$ and not as easy to get. The IRS quit snitching on taxpayers to the banks and letting the banks know that the taxpayer owed money to the IRS or the Feds (child support, student loans), so the banks are not willing to give out $$ they won't get back.

Choose your tax company based on getting your taxes done right, not on getting loans.

Guest

H&R Block will have loans this year with the national launch beginning around 12/6/2010. They will be available to Block clients and non-prior Block clients.

Jackson Hewitt will not have loans and will have limited RAL funding.

Don't know where you live but I am manager of an HRBLOCK in SC and we are offering Christmas loans starting 12/07/2010

Rebate for Sears is a Joke

During the great "Father's Day Rebate" from Sears - I spent $50.00 from the Sears website on men's clothing, as specified on rebate information. What they do not tell you is that you cannot purchase anything from K-mart, as you really don't know where you're buying it from since it is all on "Sears" website. After they have your money, they tell you that you are not going to get the rebate because part of what was ordered was from K-mart. Sears and K-Mart, I'll never spend another dollar in your stores!!!
