Jackson Hewitt was our choice for tax service in 2005. We thought they were a reputable company until now. My husband was medically discharged from the military in 04. He received a severence pay for compensation. Upon filing taxes, we were taxed on the whole sum,...

Jackson Hewitt associates are only trained a day or so and are not taught about tax law. HR block associates go through over 80 hours of training initially and then are required to take 24 hours every year after to be rehired and then even more to become updated on any new tax changes.

Not ALL large companies are scam artists and although with thousands of employees it's impossible to be 100% sure each individual is perfect the overall company standard is that it's done to completely accurate and they always take responsibility for their mistakes. HR block also looks over and checks other peoples work for FREE so you know if it was done right or not.

Last year the majority of Jackson Hewitt offices did not offer RAL (Income tax loans) because the bank they were using was not able to get certification from the Treasury Dept. Well instead of telling customers the truth they lied and deceived people into believing...

Jackson Hewitt in Columbia, South Carolina - Fraud to all employer and customers!!!

Richard and Scott Barnes are Fraud and Cons. There are numerous employees working there that do tax fraud...Richard Barnes does know of this activity as it was reported to him, and he did nothing. They all still work there, he just moves them to different stores! Scott have too call the IRS acting like your the customer to have them talk him about the tax accounts. Once again this was told to Richard, He showed a lack of concern. They have no respect for employee or customers. Pay rater for tax prepares is 7.25 managers are just a .25 more. the will bo pay you rthe correct amount of over time . I feel sorry to the employee that sign the contracts. They were telling customers and employers that the bank was going bankrupt. A customer came in one day and said she called the number on her paperwork, which mistakenly was the bank they claimed went bankrupt! It was clearly a lie. Barnes Enterprises will *** all over you.

Jackson Hewitt in Chantilly, Virginia - Rebate for Sears is a Joke

During the great "Father's Day Rebate" from Sears - I spent $50.00 from the Sears website on men's clothing, as specified on rebate information. What they do not tell you is that you cannot purchase anything from K-mart, as you really don't know where you're buying it from since it is all on "Sears" website. After they have your money, they tell you that you are not going to get the rebate because part of what was ordered was from K-mart. Sears and K-Mart, I'll never spend another dollar in your stores!!!

Do Not Use Jackson Hewitt To File Taxes!!!

My taxes were screwed up royally by Jackson Hewitt (JH)! I got a letter from the IRS saying I owed them another $600. The rep that did my taxes had no idea what he was doing. He fat fingered the numbers and entered the wrong information in the wrong boxes. They hire random people and train them on the fly. No tax experience at all! I filed a complaint with JH's corporate office twice and got the run around BIG TIME. The local office was closed, so no one was available to help me. I do not recommend this company to anyone! I will never use JH again! I still have not heard back from the corporate office. They originally gave me a letter that says "JH will reimburse you for penalties and interest charged by a taxing authority if a JH tax preparer makes a mistake - it's a crock of ***!

Jackson Hewitt loses my check and then won't help

AFter using Jackson Hewitt to do my taxes in April I paid them with a check. I got a receipt and left. Later I get a letter from their collections department stating that I nver paid them. I called every possible person I could to straighten thsi out- the store manager, the regional manager, the national phone #- I only wanted to explain that I had I receipt that shows I paid. Nobody woudl return my calls, nobody could tell me what happenend to the check I wrote... I left numerous voicemails tp the regional manager (when his voice mail box wasn't full) but he only called me back once and then disappeared. THis issue still not resolved... this company is a joke. I will never use them again. I have yet to encounter one intelligent employee of Jackson Hewitt.

Jackson Hewitt ipower is a scam

immediately after activating Jackson Hewitt ipower card fees are taken out, customer service did not answer why? Attempt to make a purchase was declined although ipower card had more than the adequate balance customer rep said my money was put on hold and could not explain why? It appears even if you load Jackson Hewitt/ipower card you are not entitled to use your money when deemed necessary. Jackson Hewitt spews out lies. Stopping the non-sense a cash refund was requested to close and terminate the account within 5 seconds rep spits out there's a $1o cancellation fee, I guess this fee covers zero tolerance to scams.

So did you read your Term and Conditions? If so, were the fees you were charged not listed within the Terms and Conditions.

If you contacted the customer service number on the back of your card, they should be able to indicated the fee structure to you or guide you to the website or paper copy of terms and conditions for this program.

Also the T&C's should be able to indicate how much money can be loaded or withdrawn on the account. So it is important to understand the product before you agree to it to ensure that it works for you.

Jackson Hewitt in Chicago, Illinois - The IPOWER Card is a scam!!!

I purchased something on line and the company held the funds twice by mistake. I was told by the company that normally the funds will be charge the next day and the other hold will be released as well. I then called jackson hewitt a week later because the funds were not release. Their very rude customer service rep then told me I have to wait 15 days before they can release the funds. What a scam!!!!! I have never heard of such an outrageous rule. They just want to keep my money in the account for as long as they can. These type of scams should be stopped!!!!

The problem doesn't appear to be with the Jackson Hewitt Ipower card but rather the online company where you made your purchases.

Depending on the type of authorization, the funds maybe held anywhere from 15-30+ days. If the online company truly processed two authorizations, you should contact the online company and request they correct their error. They do have the ability to make these types of corrections by contacting the Jackson Hewitt card and submitting some paperwork to verify that they do not truly plan to process the second transaction.

This is done to protect you from being overcharged on your card and thus having the Jackson Hewitt Ipower card attempt to collect funds from you when the online company made the error; something I am sure you would appreciate.

Jackson Hewitt in Lancaster, South Carolina - Not satisfied!

I filed my taxes with Jackson Hewitt in Lancaster SC. on Jan 29th and still have not recieved a return!I am eligible for the $8,000 first time home buyer tax credit plus my state and federal return. I have been back to check on the the status and one person tells me something and another tells me something else. Pretty much I've been getting the run-around so to speak. I was relying on this money to get my house set up. On two seperate occasions I was told I would recieve a return in 6 wks. Another person told me 26wks. Quite frankly I am pissed and will not deal with Jackson Hewitt again after this year.
