Jackson Hewitt - RAL loan

331 of 429 Jackson Hewitt reviews

Jackson Hewitt is fraudulent, I applied for the rapid refund loan this year and was told they do not use credit I felt from the beginning that this was a scam and low and behold they charged me $320.00 and I was denied though I have never ever been denied before, the bank got $50.00 for denying it and Jackson Hewitt made off with the rest, I complained about it since the bank could not lose by denying it since they got $50.00 either way and Jackson Hewitt gets the fees for doing your taxes I am pissed off and will never ever use them again long as I live and I will make sure everyone I know hears about this bogus ***.

I went to JH yesterday, usually I use Block and I am definately kicking myself for it. To start off, Im a server and I DO claim my tip money that my employer didn't. I pretty much had to walk the tax prep through the steps on how to do this. This woman finishes putting all the info and says your refund will be xxxx amount, which was $2500 LESS than what I knew it shouldve been. I took a look at the info she entered and she NEVER put in the extra tip $. Anyway, she fixed it but what if I hadn't caught it? $2500 extra isnt a lot but it helps when you're a single mom. The ONLY reason I went to JH in the first place was for the RAL... Which ultimately was denied. YAY!!! Next year.... Back to the 'ol block.. Or maybe I'll just start doing them myself. JH can *** 4 ways from Sunday.

i needed the ral now i usually do my taxes online myself. I have had a hard year and filed chapter 7 this year. I told the jh preparer I would do it on my own if i would not get the loan. I seen the 45.00 credit fee and asked about it and she said it was to make sure I didn't owe any money to the irs or child support and such. So I paid 400 for no reason just to wait longer to get my money most people trying to get a ral dont have good credit if they did they would go get a loan with a better apr. This is just a big scam so that jh can get customers and republic bank can screw every person they deny out of 29.00. if they needed a good credit score why do they have to wait until the irs oks the taxes if its based on your credit score they should be able to apply for the loan before you pay jh more money than any other place to do your taxes. People that aren't reading these comments are still applying for these loans and are getting screwed this jh needs to let people know it is based only on your credit score and not if your getting over 2000 like i was told. The way to solve the problem is for everyone go somewhere else next year and if jh doesnt get any customers they will shut down and that what they deserve. Befoe anyone says I should have read the papers I did and i asked about the credit fee as ststed above and was lied to.

the bank receive the money from IRS first, then they send it to you? why is the loan second and not first since a loan is a loan that you applied thru the bank (JH),will my credit report shows that I applied for a loan?

265 huh? My dear NAKETA not all JH locations have the same fees. The JH I went to wanted to charge me $385 just for the filing then showed me a list of the other $50 or so, fees. When I asked them to explain the charges, they all had a dumb look on their faces. And just said, we can not disclose that information. That was enough for me to tell that JH to go **** themselves. And I filed for free useing TurboTax .com.

btw: Actually "NAKETA" sounds like a JH employee trying to defend their job. If only she knew the real truth about the company she works for.

"anonymous" was spot on! H&R Block are doing a plethora of Second Look(costs less than $40) and amendments where JH has screwed up royally.
Don't go to JH if you want people to "shade" the truth by saying you will get money in 1-2 days. You can alright, but you won't get all of it. You will get some THEN you have to wait the 8-15 days that JH crucifies Block for.
In the first place, you must be APPROVED due to your good credit. Less than 50% are approved for the JH RAL.
Then, if you are NOT approved, you must still go through filing your return anyway. Unlike Block where if you don't like the fees, you can simply walk away!

Don't believe me, call BOTH offices and get the facts.

BTW: Everyone should observe "NAKETA"'s comments. How immature are those responses? Says a lot, doesn't it?

naketa- I am not sure where you got that I paid 265, because you have not seen anything of mine. i paid well over 400 with over 330 being just the tax preparation and then the additional fees- not including the 60 something. And while it was not quite 500 it was much closer to that. And like I said previously my fiance, who has NEVER used JH was approved and I have used them in the past and was denied. I just feel like people in the same situation as I am with simple tax returns should be aware to just do them yourself online and save several hundred dollars, and get your money faster.

first of all i think people need to read what they sign jackson hewitt can not tell you if you are going to get loan or not that is up to bank and you already know they charge like 300 dollars so if you are going to talk stuff after you paid it then do your own taxes and stop acting like babys and if you do not get ral you get the 61.22 back

:( I agree with first bloger, I have never been denied I was and paid out my butt for it. If I had thought I would be denied I would have done it online for 70 instead of 250!

So I went to JH yesterday because I needed an RAL, I have gotten one there before, and my fiance got one there this year so I thought there would be no problem. I call today, because, of course, they had not called me and was told I was denied the RAL. I am incredible disappointed. While the woman who helped me was very nice, I just can't get over that I payed almost $500 to get my money at the same time I could have gotten it myself by e-filing. I feel incredibly cheated.

Hi Syndi: I am sorry you did not have a positive experience, but I wanted to clarify that if you were denied a loan (RAL), you were not charged for this. There is no application fee for a RAL application, but you do pay for the Assisted Refund and regular tax prep fees. Hope this helps.

Hi Syndi, I am with you 100%!! I went to Jackson Hewitt a few years ago. I have always used H&R Block, but I was told that JH was supposed to be cheaper. Yea ok, I ended up spending more than I ever had at H&R and they missed 1269.00?!?!?! Can you believe that, they missed so much! I even questioned the lady who was doing my taxes that day. When she told me the amount I would be getting back, I was like what? Are you sure?? I know what I get back every year, of course it is never the same amount, but it is usually around the same. We are a family of 5 and we only make 30,000 a yr. My hubby is the sole bread winner, I stay home with the kids while attending college. Anyways, she swore that she had not missed anything and that this was right. She even got ignorant with me saying that I was getting a pretty large amount anyways and should be happy with what I got. UMMMMMM, we count on our income tax refund, we do not make a whole lot of money a year, right now and I use that money to pay bills like my student loans and to catch up from Christmas. Well, I paid for the RAL, waited 3 days before I called to find out what was going on and why I had not received my refund. They of course had no idea what the problem was and say I should call the IRS. So, I call IRS they tell me that there were some issues with my return. They misspelled my oldest sons name and put in the wrong social security number for my middle son. My return was denied, Jackson Hewitt told me it was not their... Show more
